Perch Fee

Perch fee: $125 per bird or 5 for $500.

Money is due when birds are sent along with the completed entry form. Unless you prepay your perch fee to reserve your spot. (Perch fee is non-refundable).

Accepting birds March 15th – June 1st (replacements til June 1st)

Only 250 birds will be accepted for the race. Entries are on a first come, first serve basis or you can reserve your spot by prepaying your perch fees.

2025 Dairyland Derby Entry Form

Entry Fee

Entry fee: $300 per bird due after activation race (100 miles)

The breeder/owner must activate all birds in the loft, with no exceptions.
If an activated bird is lost prior to the first race of the series (150 miles) entry fee will be refunded.
Any bird not activated will be made available to anyone to activate and the person who pays the entry fee will then be owner of the bird.

Payout

Final race payout will be the first drop dividing prizes evenly among amount of birds on the first drop and then clocking order.

Ace Pigeon races are paid out by clocking order

Ace Pigeon to be calculated using lowest coefficient over a 4 race series, 150 miles, 200 miles, 250 miles, 325 miles. Ace Pigeon standings to be updated after every race. Coefficient for a race is determined using the position the pigeon finished against how many pigeons in that given race. Coefficient percentages are added up from the four races and the bird with the lowest total coefficient wins the Ace Pigeon Title.

In the event of a tie for the Ace Pigeon Awards with two pigeons having the same coefficient, the bird with the best position in the final race will win the Ace Pigeon title.
Any bird clocked after the first day in any of the Ace Pigeon races besides the final race (i.e. 150, 200, 250 mile race) will be eliminated from the Ace Pigeon competition. Any bird clocked after the second day in the final race (325 miles) will be eliminated from the Ace Pigeon competition.

Other Notes:

A tax identification number (IRS W-9) is required for prizes valued at $600 or more.
10% of all entry fees will be held for race expenses

Return

All birds belong to the breeders/owner of the entry and will be shipped back to the owners after the race is completed at the breeder/owner’s expense ($70 for first bird, additional $10 per bird after that).
Return fees must be settled, and birds must be retrieved within 21 days of the last race. If fees are not paid in full within this period, remaining birds become the property of the Dairyland Derby OLR.

Dairyland Derby Race Rules

No limit on amount of birds a breeder can enter.
Must be at least 18 years of age to enter the race
Races to be flown in the month of September, weather permitting.
In the event of a hard final race, the clock will stop on the 3rd race day at 12 PM local time. Any unfilled positions within that period will be divided equally among all clocked birds for that race.
All birds will be hand scanned prior to each race.
Dairyland Derby OLR is not liable for birds lost due to unforeseen events and retains the right to refuse service/entry to any breeder or attendee at its discretion.
Loft manager reserves the right to make all decisions.
In the event of any unforeseen incident (i.e. including but not limited to birds that do not make it to the final race or return from the final race), the prizes will be split equally with the birds that were basketed to the last race.
